We'll paddle up the Upper Manatee River near the dam for Lake Manatee, and return. We usually paddle hear about once per year. So, if you want to see this river, join us now while you have the chance.

Thursday evening paddle from the shop through the waters of Snug Harbor. Bring your kayak, canoe or Paddleboard and join us on this free social event. Afterward we go next door to the shop for drinks and snacks at the Banana Boat Resturant. So bring a couple of bucks for that. Rentals available.

Big Ds - Withlacoochee River - Hog Island Circumnavigation
Sun, September 12, 9:30am – 3:00pm

Shady route with lots of tree canopy. This is one of the prettiest places to paddle in Florida. We will start at the Hog Island Recreation Area boat ramp. Then we will proceed through a hidden entrance to the south circumnavigation trail. We will stop for lunch at Iron Bridge, and return. Check it out on the map shown above.

Lunch Provided. Guide Fee $25, Solo Kayak Rental $30

For Sea Kayaks, Recreational Kayaks, and Sit-On-Tops. We'll teach safe capsizes, wet exits, self rescues, and assisted rescues. We may split the class by boat type.

Big Ds - Cockroach Bay - North - Hidden Route

Follow closely through the mysterious path inside Camp Key to Big Pass Key. We'll follow a bunch of short mangrove tunnels which often open into a pond with several more tunnels to choose from. Last time I went a new way, twice. :-) We plan to eat on a beach on Tampa Bay before heading back, hopefully along the Tampa Bay shoreline. High tide is about 2.5 ft up. It should be a great paddle. Bring a water cannon or use one of ours. Bring bug spray, also.

Big Ds - Weeki Wachee River
Mon, September 20, 10:00am – 3:30pm

Crystal clear water, easy trip down stream, cool water (72°) chilled air, snorkeling possibilities, maybe otters and/or manatees. For the more adventurous there are also trees to jump out of and others from which to swing on ropes into the river. We usually go on week days to avoid the boat traffic present on weekends.

A wonderful estuary just south of the Skyway Bridge. We'll check out mangrove islands, a beach on Tampa Bay, and mangrove tunnels.
